Ultimate Plant-Based Gouda Grits with a Kick
This morning I was doing a TikTok Live and I cooked Plant-Based Gouda Grits. I promised I’d post the recipe here, here it is. An easy recipe for your plant-based breakfast.
- 1 c water (plus probably about 1/4 c more)
- 1/4 c grits
- 4 sheets seaweed
- 3 pieces Violife Gouda
- 1 T agave
- 1/8 t chili garlic sauce
- 1/8 t sriracha
- Put the water in a pan and heat to a boil. While it is hearing break up the seaweed and the Gouda. This will allow the Gouda to melt. Slowly add the grits, little by little. Cook for 15 minutes, stirring quite a bit.
- As you are cooking, add the agave, chili garlic sauce and sriracha. Add water as needed so the grits don’t stick. Taste your grits. You may want more spice and add accordingly.
- Enjoy your grits.
This shows how easy it is to veganize something. The seaweed was added to give it that slightly fishy flavor, which is reminiscent of shrimp. And this is a dish that is served in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, so I wanted the spice. Of course, you can use your favorite hot sauce, such as Cholula or Lousisiana Hot Sauce. It’s what you like to make it your own.

Becoming Plant-Based can be a pleasure, because it helps the environment. Each time you choose to have one meal that is plant-based you are choosing the life of another. You’re also impacting the environment and your health. Of course, I’d love it if everyone is 100% all of the time, but I’d much rather a person make slow changes than not at all.
Scripps says that replacing red or processed meats twice weekly lowers your intake of saturated fats and cholesterol, which helps improve blood pressure and lowers LDL.
Namaste y’all. Happy eating.
